Tri Delta’s chosen
philanthropy Nationally is Children’s Cancer Charities. In
conjunction with this effort, Tri Delta enjoys a partnership of the
heart with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tri Delta’s
philanthropy allows chapters and members to choose to support a
local project like children’s hospital or a cancer camp and to
support the efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Whatever the choice, Tri Deltas are joining together to offer
financial and volunteer contributions to the research and treatment
of children with cancer. Together Tri Delta is making a difference.

Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital
In November 1999, Tri
Delta further enhanced its current philanthropic focus by forming a
partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis,
Tenn. Since that point the Theta Alpha Chapter here at the Universiy
of Washington has been working directly with the St. Jude office in
Seattle to help not only funraise money, but volunteer our time in
the office.
In September 2002, Tri
Delta's Executive Board agreed to a four-year, million dollar
commitment to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The project
funded the Patient Teen Room, a safe haven for teen-aged patients
looking to get a few minutes away from parents and hospital staff.
Included as part of recent renovations, the Patient Teen Room was
added to provide older patients with a place of their own-an area
strictly for teens and completely “off-limits” to small children and
adults. The room includes an activity area, computer center,
entertainment room and a music area. Tri Delta's commitment to St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital is recognized by a plaque outside
of the room.
In 2007
Tri Delta spearheaded their first annual Christmas Auction
benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, netting $14,000 in
proceeds. |
